Heuchelei, Missgunst & Schadenfreude

Da kann kommen was will,
das gibst Du nicht mehr her.
Und Du redest, Du redest,
und Du willst noch mehr.
(Stoppok)

Langeoog

Langeoog again. As every year in summer, we went to the island of Langeoog to relax for a day and enjoy the sound of waves and wind and smell the salty air on our lips. If you wanna know whats so special about this yearly trip for me, look at my blog post from 2007...nothing has changed about the fascination of this island and I even did not take any new pics. Seems as if every sandcorn ist still at its place.

Some of my non-german readers though may not know where this island is...you may have a look now:

Wild- und Freizeitpark Ostrittrum

Unemployment lead us to the decision of not going on a summer vacation this year. We could afford it but we decided to have an eye on our wallets as long as we don't know where and when the next job will attack me!

We want to stay home and whenever our tricky north german weather allows it, we are intending to visit some places nearby. Today we went to the amusement and wildlife park Ostrittrum which is situated only 20 minutes far from our home.

We have been there a several times before. It is a park mainly for young kids. On a wide area there are animals like: cangaroos, ostriches, monkeys, deers, goats, sheeps, wild boars and and and...

The playground and amusement section is designed for small children and it is unspectacular. But kids are having their fun there and that is what counts. There even is a small lake where you can go by paddleboats. That was pretty refreshing on this hot day.

In the end it was nice for JJ to play around all day and it was nice for us to have some time to have a coffee in silence and read our books for some time. This is what I call relaxation.

Geocaching - The fun is back

Lately our geocaching experiences were getting boring for our daughter Jale and usually I went alone for some geocaching. But now it seems as if the fun is coming back to Jale. It all began when we attended "Project Game" the Mega Event in Bremen, where they cared really a lot for the kids. Jale was pretty busy there with playing around and discovering the different events there. After some hours we left the Mega Event to do one of the Mega-Event special Kids cache and she was really excited.

Now since I am having a lot of time again, we made some more tries. First we went to a small town south of Bremen to solve the Geocache "Tumult im Tierpark". That Cache is situated in a small wildlife park and we simply had to find a several animals and where they are originally from. Jale found 80% of it all by herself and she couldn't even stop when it began to rain. Only heavy thunder made her run away to the car while I did the logging.

Some days ago the next try with Jale and now she was not suspicious anymore when I announced: let's go geocaching today!
I found a cache fairly nearby, a typical kids friendly cache as it seemed. It was all about Spongebob, the famous TV sponge. This was a great, kids friendly cache with 4 Waypoints + final box. Jale found 3 Waypoints and the final and she was even able to solve 2 of the riddles. The cache was designed very well with different waypoints and riddles. We even had to put a puzzle together in a forest to find out the coordinates for the next waypoint.

To say it more briefly: since we had nice, kids friendly caches, with solvable riddles even for children, the fun in geocaching came back to Jale. And I am glad that we can go together again for exciting treasure hunting!!

Fehmarn - Camping 30.06.-04.07.2009

Is it risky to go camping with 3 persons and a very small (2 x 2m) tent? Yes, it is! Generally. For us, the adventure went out fine and we did not have any problems.

We spent 4 hot days on the island of Fehmarn, situated in the Baltic Sea. It was about 30°C each day, 80 metres from our tent to the white beaches, animations for kids all day and the most important thing for me was the camping site: it was the first camping site that I saw where there were nearly no rules.
From the brochure of the camping site: "Live and let live" is our motto, so we are trying to get along with as less rules as possible. And yes, it works. Even if it was school holidays and lots of young party people around, we never had any probs with finding sleep at night.

The camping site, its equipment and its sanitary facilities were in good order and clean, and so we spent all of our days there and did not go anywhere else. Afternoons were too hot for any activities and we only stood at the beaches. In the evenings we went to different events and after I put my girls to sleep, I enjoyed the sound of the sea, the cries of the seagulls and the smell of sea-air. Usually I spent the last hour of the day in darkness and it felt so very peacefull. This 4 days vacation was the same relaxing than 2 weeks in Spain for me.
