when the world is smaller, your behavior is more circumspect. what goes around comes around much more swiftly. i'm starting to become aware that i had better learn better manners quick - it's been a year, and my behavior could use some refining. i was always taught please and thank you, but the typical german does more. when i think back on my childhood, the pictures in my mind of west seattle resemble the germany of today. people felt safer, we were more accountable for our behavior. i'm not that old, but i'm old enough.
